Speaking in NYC and New Hampshire

I will be speaking at two events this coming week. I am honored to be moderating a panel discusion in connection with the publication of Talk to Action's John Dorhauer and  his colleague Sheldon Culver's book Steeplejacking:  How the Christian Right is Hijacking Mainstream Religion, on June 6th in New York. I will be also speaking on Saturday and Sunday, June 9th and 10th at DemocracyFest, a national progressive political gathering near Manchester , New Hampshire.

Steeplejacking panel discussion:  Wednesday, June 6th at 6:30 PM at the Tank, 279 Church Street (between Franklin and White), and is sponsored by Ig Publishing.   Joining John and me for the discussion will be Michelle Goldberg, author of Kingdom Coming: The Rise of Christian Nationalism and Chris Hedges, author of American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War on America;

Democracy Fest, is associated with Democracy for America, an outgrowth of the 2004 Howard Dean campaign for president. The event features, among other things, skill-building trainings for electoral activists from all over the country; and addresses from former Senator John Edwards (D-NC);  Rep.Carol Porter Shea (D-NH); and Howard Dean, Chairman of the DNC.  I will be speaking on Saturday afternoon, and participate in a workshop on the Religious Right and Democracy on Sunday.

DemocracyFest is an annual educational and inspirational festival for the progressive grassroots. DemocracyFest gives grassroots progressives the knowledge and skills they need to take our country back. Participants return home to their communities with renewed commitment, and new skills to help them making a difference.

Previous DemocracyFests have been held in California, Texas and Massachusetts. The event combines progressive issues with politics and entertainment. Join us this year at the Historic Wayfarer Inn  in Manchester, NH on June 9 and 10, 2007.
